LA-based musical shapeshifter Hayes Bradley is diving headfirst into the mess of modern life with his latest single, ‘Total Call’, and it’s not just another club banger, it’s a meltdown you can dance to.
The composer, producer, DJ, and sound curator has been juggling sounds across dance music, ambient landscapes, fashion brand collaborations, and even film scores. Now, he’s channeling all that creative mayhem into one powerful track that’s as honest as it is explosive.
If you’ve followed Hayes Bradley for a while, you’ll know he’s no stranger to evolving. Back in 2017, he dropped his debut EP These Things Take Time, and since then, he’s been on a journey that’s anything but predictable. His ambient debut album 1-9 via Secular Sabbath Records turned heads for its introspective vibe, while his next two projects Anywhere For Now and Recommence (I/VII) pushed even deeper into emotional territory.
But this time, Bradley’s back in his LA playground and has teamed up with Stratasonic for something new and fierce. ‘Total Call’, which hits streaming platforms on August 8, 2025, is the first taste of his upcoming album, and it’s wild, eclectic, and unapologetically real.
Speaking about the track, Hayes didn’t hold back: “Total Call is personal chaos. Chaos most people try to mask by acting normal. If you’re crying or f***ed up or panicking in public, you try and cover it up. I think everyone should just lean into whatever they are feeling and care less about the people staring back.”
That raw energy bleeds straight into the sound of ‘Total Call’. It kicks off with gritty, distorted guitar riffs that tear through the speakers, cutting right into thunderous breakbeats that feel built for the middle of a sweaty 2am set. The vibe is heavy, urgent, and intense, with sinewy synths snaking through the noise, pulling the track in a thousand emotional directions while a crushing bassline keeps it all grounded. It’s all layered like a mask, drums and synths pulling you in while the guitar leads you through the noise, only to disappear in the end, leaving you with the raw core of yourself.
The point? According to Hayes, it’s about letting go of the performance. “The drums and synth pulls are masked by a common guitar riff. But in the end, the guitar sound vanishes and you’re just left with who you truly are. Whatever that may be, so probably just be that.”
It’s not just the sound that’s electric, it’s where he’s been and what he’s done that makes it even more impressive. He’s performed everywhere from Tokyo and Berlin to New York, and even played Insomniac’s Forever Midnight NYE Festival. On top of that, he used to tour with none other than Kaytranada, as part of his American Dance Ghosts collective. And fashion heads know him as the guy behind some of the most vibey sonic identities for major runway shows.
Now, all those influences are smashing together into a new chapter with Stratasonic. ‘Total Call’ is the launchpad, a track that slaps you in the face with honesty while still being completely dancefloor-ready. It’s the sound of falling apart and not being afraid of the pieces.
So yeah, if you’re looking for something safe or polished, this ain’t it. But if you’re down to ride the wave of emotional chaos dressed up in club armor, Hayes Bradley’s got you.
