Gemini AI Finally Lands on iPad and It’s Packed

Google has finally launched a dedicated Gemini app for iPad, and it’s way more than just a stretched version of the iPhone release.

After dropping the iOS app back in November 2024, the company has now confirmed that iPad users are getting a tailor-made version of the AI experience, optimized for tablets and loaded with fresh features that take full advantage of the iPad’s screen real estate and multitasking capabilities.

Elijah Lawal, Google’s spokesperson, told The Verge that the iPad app is built for multitasking. You can now run Gemini in split view, making it easier to research, write, or code while having a conversation with the AI on the side. That’s not all, though. The iPad version includes Gemini Live, which lets users have natural, free-flowing conversations in over 45 languages. It feels way more conversational and fluid than traditional chat and is clearly designed to make human-AI interaction seamless.

Then there’s Deep Research, a feature aimed at saving time by letting users generate reports and gather data on the fly. It’s especially helpful for students, professionals, and anyone juggling multiple tasks who wants quick, reliable info. Google’s really leaning into the time-saving angle here.

Another standout is Audio Overview. Originally rolled out only in English for Gemini and Gemini Advanced subscribers, this tool helps users easily process and understand audio files. Thanks to great early feedback, it’s now expanded and supports over 45 languages globally. So now it’s easier than ever to turn voice notes or recordings into digestible summaries, no matter where you’re from.

Also new is the Canvas feature, an AI-powered collaboration space where users can co-create and edit documents or code in real time. It’s basically an AI workspace built right into the app, and it shows that Google’s not just aiming at casual users, but professionals too.

But the real kicker? The app also supports image and video generation right on the iPad. So whether you’re dreaming up visuals for a campaign or just messing around creatively, you can now bring those ideas to life instantly, without leaving the app.

The Gemini app is now officially available on the App Store for iOS and iPadOS in all regions where Gemini is already supported. From casual chats to serious productivity, this iPad release is looking like a major level-up for Gemini users.
