His latest single, \u2018Tekera\u2019<\/strong>, made alongside South African DJ and producer Iti<\/strong>, is a bold departure from his Tech House roots. Venturing into Afro House, Alden delivers a track where groove, melody, and vocals meet, showing a more melodic and emotional side to his artistry.<\/p>\n

In this exclusive interview, Alden talks about how the collaboration came together, what it was like stepping outside his comfort zone, and why \u2018Tekera\u2019 marks a defining moment in his journey.<\/p>\n

Hi Alden, how are you?<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Hi guys, I\u2019m doing well! Thanks for having me.<\/p>\n

What first sparked your collaboration with Iti? How did that creative relationship begin?
\nWe were both students at Icon Collective when we met. We shared a passion for DJing and making music, and that drove us to create multiple songs together.<\/p>\n

\u2018Tekera\u2019 feels like a big step forward. How was the process different from your solo releases?<\/strong><\/h3>\n

\u2018Tekera\u2019 is definitely a curveball in my discography since it\u2019s Afro House. It pushed me to focus on melody and longer arrangements. I\u2019m a sucker for a strong chord progression, and this track reminded me of that.<\/p>\n

Afro House has a strong identity. How did you approach it authentically?<\/strong><\/h3>\n

The other half of this song is Iti. He\u2019s from South Africa and knows this genre deeply. With my Tech House background and his Afro House roots, we combined both worlds. It took me outside my comfort zone, but in the best way.<\/p>\n

How did you divide roles in the studio?<\/strong><\/h3>\n

The process was very natural. We didn\u2019t even plan to release it, we just created. We bounced ideas back and forth and took turns at the computer. Working with Iti really brought out a more melodic side of me.<\/p>\n

The vocal is powerful in \u2018Tekera\u2019. What role did it play in shaping the song?<\/strong><\/h3>\n

We were very particular about the vocal. It\u2019s raw, moving, and gives the track its emotional weight. It fits perfectly with what we wanted.<\/p>\n

The production balances atmosphere and intensity. How did you manage that?<\/strong><\/h3>\n

For me, dance music is all about tension and release. On \u2018Tekera\u2019, we focused on long sweeps and falls, nothing abrupt. Percussion and melody both drive that energy.<\/p>\n

Did you and Iti have the same vision from the start, or did it evolve?<\/strong><\/h3>\n

We both wanted an Afro House track, that was clear. From there, it was just ideas flowing naturally. No forced compromises, just a smooth process.<\/p>\n

Where do you imagine \u2018Tekera\u2019 resonating most live?<\/strong><\/h3>\n

I always pictured it as a sunrise song. That rising moment with hands in the air, that\u2019s where it feels right. But honestly, I\u2019d also love to hear it at a Keinemusik set.<\/p>\n

Looking back, what are you most proud of with this track?<\/strong><\/h3>\n

The song as a whole. It\u2019s special because Iti and I are close friends, and to release something after Icon Collective closed means a lot. It represents me expanding my horizons.<\/p>\n

What\u2019s next for you? Any new projects coming?<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Iti and I have more songs, but those are under wraps for now. I do have another release coming soon called \u2018Spin\u2019. It\u2019s darker, more clubby, but continues the journey.<\/p>\n
